Hamas Says It Hit Israeli Vehicles In The Shuja’Iyya Neighbourhood Of Gaza City

These images reportedly show Hamas militants hitting Israeli military vehicles in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood of Gaza City.

The footage appears to show Hamas militants sporting Kalashnikov assault rifles and rocket launchers and firing from inside buildings at Israeli military vehicles in the street.

The images were obtained from Hamas on Wednesday, 6th December, along with a statement saying: “Watch scenes of the engagement of Al-Qassam fighters with enemy vehicles penetrating the Shuja’iya neighbourhood in the city of Gaza.”

We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.

The Israel-Hamas war is now entering its 61st day, after the deadliest attack on Israel by Hamas on 7th October left 1,200 Israelis dead.

Over 16,000 Palestinians have been killed after Israel retaliated with airstrikes on Gaza and a ground invasion.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said that Gaza is facing a “severe risk of collapse of the humanitarian system” and has invoked a rarely used article to push for a ceasefire.

He said: “I’ve just invoked Art.99 of the UN Charter – for the 1st time in my tenure as Secretary-General.

“Facing a severe risk of collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza, I urge the Council to help avert a humanitarian catastrophe and appeal for a humanitarian ceasefire to be declared.”

Article 99 of the UN Charter gives the Secretary-General the power to “bring to the attention of the Security Council any matter which in his opinion may threaten the maintenance of international peace and security”.

Guterres has called on the Security Council to act. The move comes as the 15-member Security Council is yet to adopt a resolution calling for a ceasefire.

The EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has Guterres’ decision to invoke Article 99 of the UN charter, saying: “The UNSC must act immediately to prevent a full collapse of the humanitarian situation in Gaza.”
