This footage reportedly shows Ukrainian special forces using assault rifles and grenades to clear houses in a settlement in Zaporizhzhia, taking out Russian soldiers and taking prisoners.
The images were obtained from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on 19th March along with a statement saying that the “GUR special forces conducted a clearance operation on the Zaporizhzhia front” in what they said was a “masterclass” in close-quarters combat.
The video shows Ukrainian special forces soldiers driving to an undisclosed location said to be in Zaporizhzhia before getting out of their military transport vehicle and opening fire on a house, which they then storm, apparently taking two prisoners.
They then proceed to a second location, where they throw a grenade into a building before appearing to take a third prisoner and extracting.
The footage then cuts to men with their faces covered, apparently the Russian soldiers the special forces operatives took prisoner, saying their names and ranks to the camera before the video ends.
The GUR statement said: “The ‘Chimera’ unit, part of the ‘Timur Special Unit’ of the GUR of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, carried out a successful clearance of one of the settlements on the Zaporizhzhia front.
“Separate groups of enemy infantry had entrenched themselves in residential buildings — through skilled and methodical actions, the intelligence operatives drove the Moskals out of their shelters.
“The special forces conducted a thorough clearance of the premises, destroyed enemy infantry in close combat, and captured those who were fortunate enough to survive.”
The statement continued: “The captives have been added to the prisoner exchange pool — they will later be swapped for Ukrainian defenders.
“The video shows a professional CQB (Close Quarters Battle) masterclass by the ‘Chimera’ special forces.”
The GUR added: “Combat operations continue on all fronts! Glory to Ukraine!”
