Russia has said that it has hit Ukrainian positions near Avdiivka using self-propelled artillery and drones.
The footage purports to show 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled artillery systems hitting Ukrainian positions.
The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Thursday, 23rd May, along with a statement claiming (in English): “Artillery crews of Tsentr Group of Forces support offensive of motorised rifle units in Avdeyevka [Avdiivka] direction
“After acquiring the target’s coordinates from reconnaissance units, the 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled artillery system crews arrived at the firing position and suppressed firing points concealed in a forest belt on the route of assault detachment’s offensive by 152-mm high-explosive fragmentation ammunition.
“Then, the artillerymen inflicted losses on the enemy’s manpower, which took defensive positions in a stronghold. The Orlan-30 UAV teams adjusted strikes and controlled target engagement.” (sic)
We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.
