Moment Ukrainian Sniper Takes Out Russian Machine Gunner 880 Metres Away

These images show a Ukrainian sniper taking out a Russian soldier from a distance of 880 metres.

The footage shows the view through the sniper rifle scope and the target being taken out from a reported distance of 880 metres (2,287 feet).

The sniper can be seen carefully lining up the shot before opening fire, aiming slightly above the target to account for variables such as distance and wind.

The scope shudders slightly as the shot is fired, with the target suddenly disappearing from view after apparently being hit.

The images were obtained from the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi on Friday, 8th September, along with a statement saying: “The ‘Ghost’ group of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi.

“A Russian machine gunner was destroyed from a distance of 880 metres. Glory to Ukraine.”

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 562nd day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 8th September 2023, Russia had lost about 267,540 personnel, 4,529 tanks, 8,726 armoured combat vehicles, 5,753 artillery units, 754 multiple launch rocket systems, 507 air defence systems, 315 warplanes, 316 helicopters, 4,570 drones, 1,455 cruise missiles, 19 warships, 8,264 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 860 units of special equipment.

Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.

Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, and Romanian Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu have spoken by phone about Romania’s investigation into debris from a drone found on Romanian soil near its border with Ukraine.

Romania’s Defence Minister Angel Tilvar admitted that parts of a Russian drone used to attack Ukraine had been found on his country’s territory.

His admission comes after he and other senior officials “categorically” denied a cross-border incident for two days.

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis said the attack, which his Ministry of Defence (MoD) is currently investigating, would be a serious violation of sovereignty.

An attack on his country, a member of NATO, would be “completely inadmissible”, the Romanian President added.

The Romanian MoD stressed that the country did not face any direct threats.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Thursday there was no evidence Russia had launched a deliberate attack on Romania.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has praised three military units on the front in eastern and southern Ukraine, saying that they have been “very, very effective” against Russian troops.

He said that one National Guard unit in the east and two in the south had been particularly effective, adding that “results are precisely what Ukraine needs now from everyone”.

Funerals have been held for some of the victims of a Russian missile strike that hit a busy market in eastern Ukraine yesterday.

At least 17 people were killed and 32 wounded in the attack, which was one of the worst in months, on the market in Kostiantynivka, in eastern Ukraine’s Donestsk region.

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the Russian flag has no place at next year’s Paris Olympics due to the war crimes committed in Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime.
