Russia has said that it has destroyed Ukrainian military positions using a multiple-launch rocket system reportedly seen firing propaganda pamphlets in this footage.
The video shows Russian soldiers stuffing the pamphlets into the casing of a rocket before loading the ordnance into a multiple launch rocket system vehicle.
The vehicle then manoeuvres into position and opens fire, unleashing a salvo of deadly ordnance, as well as the red propaganda missile, on unseen targets.
The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Tuesday, 14th May, along with a statement claiming: “Crews of the Uragan MLRS of the Vostok group of troops . . . destroyed armoured vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Vremevsky direction of the Northern Military District.”
The Russian MoD added: “The preparations for the movement of Ukrainian units were discovered by operators of unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicles, and carefully camouflaged enemy armoured combat vehicles were also identified. The coordinates of the targets were transmitted to the rocket artillery crews, which dealt a crushing blow to the enemy.
“The Uragan MLRS rockets cover an area the size of five football fields; three salvoes are enough: the first is a sighting salvo, the other two are for destruction. According to the artillerymen, now the Ukrainian Armed Forces rarely launch retaliatory strikes; the enemy simply does not have enough resources for this.”
The statement quotes a platoon commander with the call sign ‘Keta’ as saying: “It was tougher before… Now they don’t have enough strength and resources, or they can’t work on time automatically, like we do – quickly, harmoniously… They just don’t have time.”
The statement continued: “In addition to combat rockets, artillerymen of the Vostok group of troops also use propaganda missiles. Instead of a missile warhead, leaflets are equipped with a call to surrender without a fight and save your life. “
They said Ukrainian military personnel who take the leaflets with them can safely approach the Russian troops to surrender.
And they added: “According to prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy is suffering significant losses in this sector of the front, there are almost no armoured vehicles left, and officers do not appear in positions, leaving the soldiers on the line of fire to the mercy of fate.”
