Russia Says Its Ka-52 Attack Helicopters Destroyed Ukrainian Armoured Vehicles

Russia has said that it destroyed Ukrainian armoured vehicles with Ka-52 attack helicopters, as these images purport to show.

The footage shows Russian Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopters firing missiles at the Ukrainian military positions on the battlefield.

The scene then cuts to the missiles hitting Ukrainian armoured fighting vehicles.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Thursday, 7th September, along with a statement saying: “Direct hit: footage of combat operations by crews of Ka-52 attack helicopters of the Russian Air Force.

“During combat sorties, Army aviation pilots destroyed several units of AFU armoured vehicles with guided missiles.”

We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 560th day of the full-scale war.

The Russian attack came as the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, was in Kyiv for an unannounced two-day visit, his first in a year to the Ukrainian capital.

Blinken met his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, held discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and described progress in the Ukrainian counteroffensive as “very, very encouraging”.
