Ukrainian Forces Clear Russian Position Near Bakhmut

These images show Ukrainian forces taking out a Russian military position in close combat near Bakhmut.

The POV-style footage shows Ukrainian soldiers opening fire and throwing bombs at the Russian position.

The images obtained from the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodny Yar of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Monday, 11th March, along with a statement saying: “Destruction of a dugout with enemy infantry and clearing of Russian occupiers’ positions in the Bakhmut sector using drones and GoPro cameras of the 93rd Brigade’s Kholodnyi Yar soldiers.

“The combat mission to move forward near Bohdanivka was successfully completed, our Titans worked without any losses or injuries.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 12th March 2024, Russia had lost approximately 425,060 personnel, 6,756 tanks, 12,934 armoured combat vehicles, 10,547 artillery units, 1,017 multiple launch rocket systems, 714 air defence systems, 347 warplanes, 325 helicopters, 8,227 drones, 1,921 cruise missiles, 26 warships, 1 submarine, 13,914 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,694 units of special equipment.

Ukrainian drones have launched attacks on Russia, causing explosions and fires at fuel refineries, and cutting electricity supplies. Reports from Russian authorities have confirmed the incidents, with fuel facilities in Oryol and Nizhny Novgorod regions ablaze.

One drone flying towards Moscow was downed over the Ramensky district.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the advance of Russian troops in Ukraine “has been stopped,” with the situation along the front being at its best in three months.

He said that Ukraine has improved its strategic position despite shortages of weaponry, but suggests the situation could change without new supplies.

Russia recently captured Avdiivka and nearby villages.

Over the past week, Ukraine’s military has reported no further Russian advancements, with Ukrainian troops reportedly improving their position.

Zelensky highlighted Ukrainian successes, including shooting down Russian warplanes and sinking targets in the Black Sea, saying: “We have recovered in our situation in the east.”

Zelensky noted challenges due to shortages of artillery shells, air blockades, and intense Russian drone attacks.

Zelensky stated that a recent Russian missile strike in Odesa, which hit near him and the Greek prime minister, shows Putin has “lost touch with reality.” He expressed concerns about the safety of European leaders given such actions.

Germany’s Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, has expressed openness to a potential deal where the UK would provide additional Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, while Germany replenishes Britain’s stock of long-range missiles. There’s been pressure on Germany to offer its Taurus missiles to Ukraine, known for their ability to strike deeper into enemy territory compared to Storm Shadow.
