Ukrainian Forces Destroy Russian D-20 Howitzer On The Frontline

This is the moment Ukrainian forces destroy a Russian howitzer on the frontline.

The footage shows the Russian howitzer being hit by Ukrainian ordnance.

The images were obtained from the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Corporal General Oleksiy Almazov on Tuesday, 15th August, along with a statement saying: “Crews from the 64th Separate Howitzer Division of the 406th Separate Artillery Brigade named after General-Ensign Oleksiy Almazov, with support from the aerial reconnaissance unit Shadow, destroyed an enemy D-20 howitzer.

“Don’t forget to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and believe in our soldiers!

“We continue to work towards the complete Victory! Glory to Ukraine!”

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 539th day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 16th August 2023, Russia had lost about 255,570 personnel, 4,324 tanks, 8,380 armoured combat vehicles, 5,152 artillery units, 714 multiple launch rocket systems, 485 air defence systems, 315 warplanes, 314 helicopters, 4,248 drones, 1,404 cruise missiles, 18 warships, 7,614 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 773 units of special equipment.

Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.

Three people have been killed and several others have been wounded in Russian strikes on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv and the north-western region of Volyn.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said: “Many missiles were shot down, but there were also hits in Lviv.”

He also said that one apartment building that was on fire was evacuated.

The Bank of Russia has raised its key interest rate from 8.5 per cent to 12 per cent.

The move comes after the Russian rouble dropped to its lowest level in nearly 17 months on Monday.

Russia has fined the social media site Reddit for the first time for failing to delete what it called “banned content” that it claimed contained “fake” information about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Three Bulgarian citizens suspected of spying for Russia have been arrested and charged in the United Kingdom, according to the police.

The United States has said that Russia would be violating UN resolutions if it concludes an arms deal with North Korea.

The statement comes after Russian and North Korean leaders called for greater cooperation.

The Ukrainian government is planning to build fortifications and military infrastructure in the north-east regions that border Belarus and Russia.
