Ukrainian Snipers Take Out Russian Soldiers From Distance Of 1,500 Metres With American Rifle

These images show Ukrainian snipers taking out Russian soldiers from a distance of 1,500 metres using an American Barrett rifle.

The footage, filmed through the scopes of the sniper rifles, shows a first Russian soldier being taken out by a Ukrainian sniper, with the second part of the footage showing the second Russian soldier being shot.

The head of the Ukrainian Ground Forces said that the snipers had used a Barrett MRAD 338 rifle and that the shots had been taken at a distance of 1,500 metres (0.93 miles).

The images were obtained from Oleksandr Stanislavovych Syrskyi, Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Tuesday, 3rd October, along with a statement saying: “The ‘Ghost’ group of the Separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky destroyed two Russians from a distance of 1,500 metres.

“They worked with a Barrett MRAD 338 rifle.”

The Barrett MRAD 338 is a bolt-action sniper rifle designed by the American arms manufacturer Barrett.

The images and statement were also relayed by the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Wednesday, 4th October.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 589th day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 5th October 2023, Russia had lost about 280,470 personnel, 4,757 tanks, 9,052 armoured combat vehicles, 6,643 artillery units, 804 multiple launch rocket systems, 540 air defence systems, 315 warplanes, 316 helicopters, 5,129 drones, 1,530 cruise missiles, 20 warships, 1 submarine, 8,980 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 948 units of special equipment.

Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.

The United Kingdom has accused Russia of plotting to sabotage civilian tankers carrying Ukrainian grain by mining the Black Sea so that it can deny targeting them directly with missiles and instead blame Ukraine for their destruction.

The UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly, said: “The world is watching – and we see right through Russia’s cynical attempts to lay blame on Ukraine for their attacks.”

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has urged Western allies to continue to support Ukraine so that it can “finish the job” and repel the Russian invasion.

Russia is reportedly planning to build a naval base on the Black Sea coast of Abkhazia.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is reportedly working to secure further air defence systems ahead of winter.

US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he was worried that political infighting in Washington could pose a threat to the US supplying Ukraine with aid.

He urged Republicans to stop their infighting and support the “critically important” help being provided to Ukraine.

The US will reportedly transfer thousands of seized Iranian weapons and ammunition to Ukraine in a bid to alleviate critical shortages.

Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of NATO’s Military Committee, has warned that Western powers are running out of ammunition to provide Ukraine, saying that “the bottom of the barrel is now visible”.
