These images show Ukrainian tanks and infantry taking out Russian military positions near Bakhmut.

The footage shows Ukrainian tanks and infantry taking out Russian positions in a treeline between two fields, with the soldiers seen opening fire on Russian positions with their assault rifles, and the tanks can be seen using their long guns on them.

The images were obtained from the 3rd Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday, 4th June, along with a statement saying: “Operation of the tanks of the 3rd Assault Brigade during the assault on enemy positions. Bakhmut direction.”

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 467th day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 5th June 2023, Russia had lost about 210,350 personnel, 3,848 tanks, 7,523 armoured combat vehicles, 3,567 artillery units, 584 multiple launch rocket systems, 349 air defence systems, 313 warplanes, 298 helicopters, 3,189 drones, 1,136 cruise missiles, 18 warships, 6,312 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 484 units of special equipment.

Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.

Ukraine has launched a “major” attack in the Donetsk region, the Russian Ministry of Defence reportedly claimed today, on Monday, 5th June, according to the Russian state news agency TASS.

The Russian MoD claimed that Ukraine used six minimised battalions and two tank battalions in the attack but that Russian forces had pushed them back.

Ukraine had not confirmed or denied Russia’s claim at the time of writing.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously said on Saturday that his country was ready to begin its much-anticipated counteroffensive to recapture Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia.

He said at the time: “We strongly believe that we will succeed.”

The lifeless body of a two-year-old girl has been found in the rubble of a house after a Russian missile attack hit several buildings near the city of Dnipro in central Ukraine, according to regional governor Serhiy Lysak.

He added that three boys aged 15, 11 and 6, were in hospital in intensive care following the strike.

This comes after Russia launched a wave of attacks on cities across Ukraine on Sunday morning, with Ukrainian military officials in the capital Kyiv saying that air defence systems had repelled all missiles and drones approaching the city.

Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukraine’s Minister Of Strategic Industries, has expressed his “disbelief” after discovering that nearly half of the bomb shelters in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv were closed or unfit for purpose.

The revelation comes after an initial audit found that 359 shelters were not fit for use, while 122 were found to be locked. Of the 1,078 air raid shelters, just 597 of them were found to be usable.

Four people, including a security guard who allegedly failed to unlock the doors, have been arrested as part of a criminal investigation after a woman in Kyiv died outside a locked air raid shelter, according to a regional Prosecutor’s Office.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the Governor of the Belgorod region in Russia, has said that he is willing to have a meeting with a pro-Ukraine group of Russian partisans who are holding two Russian soldiers prisoner.

The Russian partisans had previously said that they were willing to hand the soldiers over in exchange for a meeting with Gladkov.
