Hamas Says Its Fighters Clashed With IDF In Beit Lahia And Destroyed Vehicles

Hamas has said that its fighters have clashed with Israeli forces in Beit Lahia and destroyed a number of vehicles.

The footage shows Hamas fighters armed with assault rifles and other weapons amidst ruined buildings in Gaza.

The images then appear to show an Israeli tank being hit by a rocket, with the sounds of gunfire then heard before fighters open fire with assault rifles.

The video then appears to show a Hamas fighter firing a rocket at an Israeli war machine.

The images were obtained from Hamas on Tuesday, 7th November, along with a statement saying: “Al-Qassam mujahideen clashed with the forces invading northwest of Beit Lahia and destroyed a number of vehicles.”

We have not been able to independently verify the claims or the footage.

Beit Lahia is a city in the Gaza Strip, north of Jabalia.

The Israel-Hamas war is now entering its 33rd day, after the deadliest attack on Israel by Hamas on 7th October left 1,400 Israelis dead.

Israel has since retaliated with airstrikes on Gaza and a ground invasion, with the Hamas-run Ministry of Health in Gaza saying that at least 10,000 people have died, many of them women and children.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are encircling Gaza City and are operating on the ground inside it.

He said that civilians should continue to move south and that there would be no ceasefire until Hamas releases its hostages.

Approximately 240 people are understood to have been taken hostage by Hamas during its attack on Israel in October.

Netanyahu also said that Israel might consider “tactical little pauses” in the fighting so that aid can get in and hostages can get out.

He also said that Israel may govern the territory indefinitely.

He said: “Israel will for an indefinite period […] have the overall security responsibility [in Gaza] because we’ve seen what happens when we don’t.”

Following the comments, the White House said that it does not believe that Israel should reoccupy Gaza but National Security spokesperson John Kirby also said on Tuesday that “Hamas cannot be part of the equation”.

Yoav Gallant, Israel’s Defence Minister, has said that the IDF are operating inside Gaza city and “tightening the chokehold” around it.
