IDF Says Its Forces Are In Face-To-Face Close Combat With Hamas

These images reportedly show Israeli soldiers fighting face-to-face with Hamas.

The first piece of footage shows a group of Israeli soldiers next to war machines in Gaza, with them then seen opening fire on a damaged building with assault rifles.

The Israeli soldiers, holding what to be M-16 assault rifles, can then be seen storming the building while others continue to fire on it outside.

The second piece of footage, filmed from an Israeli war machine, shows it moving through Gaza before the images cut to Israeli soldiers.

The footage shows the opening fire on unseen targets, with one seen firing out of the window of a damaged building.

The video then shows a building being blown up, with other explosions seen taking place at night as the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Israel Defense Forces on Monday, 4th December, along with a statement saying: “Documentation: Combat team members of Battalion 601 in face-to-face combat against Hamas terrorists.”

The Israel-Hamas war is now entering its 59th day, after the deadliest attack on Israel by Hamas on 7th October left 1,200 Israelis dead.

More than 15,899 Palestinians have been killed after Israel retaliated with airstrikes on Gaza and a ground invasion.

The Israeli military is pushing deeper into southern Gaza, with tanks, armoured personnel carriers and bulldozers having reportedly entered an area near Khan Younis.

A week-long truce between Israel and Hamas collapsed on Friday, with the Israelis now pushing deep into southern Gaza.

Islamic Jihad, an ally of Hamas, have said that their fighters are engaged in fierce fighting with Israeli soldiers to the north and east of Khan Younis.

Lynn Hastings, a United Nations humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories has warned that an “even more hellish scenario” is set to take place.

She added: “The conditions required to deliver aid to the people of Gaza do not exist.”

Hastings also said: “Nowhere is safe in Gaza and there is nowhere left to go.”

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appealed to Israel to avoid more actions that would render an already difficult humanitarian situation in Gaza even worse and to spare civilians from further suffering.
