Russia Says Its BM-21 Grad MLRS Hit Ukrainian Positions Near Bakhmut

Russia has said that it has hit Ukrainian positions near Bakhmut using BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems.

The footage shows Russian soldiers manoeuvring into position at night. With one of the multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) then unleashing a salvo of rockets into the night sky.

The video cuts to a number of explosions, reportedly the Ukrainian positions being hit, before the footage ends.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) on Wednesday, 10th April, along with a statement claiming: “Artillerymen of the Southern Group of Forces carried out area attacks on areas where the Ukrainian Armed Forces were concentrated in the Artemovsk [Bakhmut] direction of the special military operation.”

The Russian MoD added: “Having received the coordinates of the concentration areas of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Artemovsk direction of the special military operation, the crews of the BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems of the South group of troops immediately moved to firing positions.

“Having arrived in the specified areas, the military personnel deployed the combat vehicles from the travelling position to the combat position and aimed at the target. Having fired a salvo of 122-mm rockets at concentrations of manpower and Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment located at a distance of over 10 kilometres [6.2 miles]. The crew promptly left the firing position.

“Operators of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Orlan-10 group carried out control of target destruction and adjustment of fire.”
