These images show Ukrainian forces dropping bombs on Russian strongholds and positions using drones.

The footage shows powerful explosions on the Russian positions after they are hit by bombs dropped from Ukrainian drones.

The images were obtained from the 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinskyi of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday 25th December, along with a statement saying: “On Christmas and New Year’s holidays, carol singers come to the Ukrainian hosts. And the ‘Owls’ of the Mykolaiv Marines visit the occupiers.

“In places where the enemy’s manpower is concentrated, the pilots of the RUBPAK attack drones treat the Russian soldiers with traditional delicacies.

“Merry Christmas!”

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation.” Today marks the 671st day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 26th December 2023. Russia had lost approximately 354,960 personnel, 5,899 tanks, 10,956 armoured combat vehicles, 8,366 artillery units, 934 multiple launch rocket systems, 614 air defence systems, 329 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 6,458 drones, 1,618 cruise missiles, 23 warships, 1 submarine, 11,109 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,239 units of special equipment.

Russian attacks in Kherson resulted in four civilian deaths and nine injuries, with drone attacks and shelling causing casualties.

Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed there had been fatalities, including an elderly couple hit by an artillery shell, and reported ongoing attacks, totalling 88 in the past day.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned Russian pilots that Ukraine’s air defence will strengthen further after saying that five Russian fighter jets had downed shortly before Christmas.

He expressed gratitude for the results, citing the shooting down of nearly 30 Shahed drones, multiple missiles, and two military aircraft in one evening, totalling five in the week.

An explosion rocked the Crimean port of Feodosia. The commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, claimed responsibility on Telegram.

He said that the Russian landing ship Novocherkassk had hit, stating: “The fleet in Russia is getting smaller and smaller!”

Ukraine’s cabinet submitted a draft law to parliament, proposing a reduction in the age for military mobilisation from 27 to 25.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy acknowledged the military’s suggestion to mobilise up to half a million more Ukrainians. Emphasising the sensitivity of the issue, requiring discussions between the military and government.

Ukrainians, for the first time, celebrated Christmas on 25th December as a public holiday, diverging from Russia’s later date.

The shift is a direct response to Russia’s invasion, symbolising a separation from its hostile neighbour.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the completion of Russia’s shipments of nuclear weapons to Belarus. Sparking concerns in neighbouring Poland and the broader region.
