Ukrainian Paratroopers Repel Russian Night Attack On Their Position And Take Out Tank, IFV

These images show Ukrainian paratroopers repelling a Russian night attack on their position while taking out four enemy war machines including a tank and an infantry fighting vehicle.

The footage shows a column of Russian war machines advancing on the battlefield at night before they are repeatedly hit by Ukrainian firepower.

The video then shows the remains of the Russian war machines in the light of day.

The images were obtained from the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, 6th November, along with a statement saying: “The paratroopers of the 79th repulsed a night assault on their positions.

“The Russian occupiers resort to testing new tactics.

“Yes, the other day the enemy made an attempt to storm forward positions of paratroopers at night under the cover of fog.

“However, the aerial reconnaissance of the maroon berets from Mykolaiv detected the approach of the enemy column in time and the enemy was hit by fire.

“As a result, the enemy lost four pieces of equipment and retreated.

The images were also relayed by the Office of Strategic Communications (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tuesday, 7th November, along with a statement saying: “The other day, the enemy made an attempt to storm forward positions of paratroopers at night under the cover of fog.

Russia invaded Ukraine on 24th February 2022 in what the Kremlin is still calling a “special military operation”. Today marks the 622nd day of the full-scale war.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that between 24th February 2022 and 7th November 2023, Russia had lost about 306,860 personnel, 5,293 tanks, 9,974 armoured combat vehicles, 7,410 artillery units, 869 multiple launch rocket systems, 570 air defence systems, 322 warplanes, 324 helicopters, 5,557 drones, 1,556 cruise missiles, 20 warships, 1 submarine, 9,767 motor vehicles and fuel tankers, and 1,049 units of special equipment.

Russia has claimed that its casualties have been much lower but provides infrequent updates on its latest figures.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, has said that one of his close advisers has been killed after a grenade that was among his birthday presents exploded.

Zaluzhnyi said: “Under tragic circumstances, my assistant and close friend, Major Gennadiy Chastiakov, was killed … on his birthday.”

It was first suspected that the incident was an assassination before it emerged that Chastiakov had been showing one of his four children a box of grenades he had been given as a gift.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister, Igor Klymenko, said in a statement: “At first, the son took the munition in his hands and began to turn the ring. Then the serviceman took the grenade away from the child and pulled the ring, causing a tragic explosion.”

Chastiakov’s 13-year-old son was also seriously injured.

Vladimir Putin has decided to run in the Russian presidential election in March, a move that could see him remain in power until least 2030.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that having elections, currently banned under martial law, in Ukraine at this time would not be appropriate.

He said: “We need to recognise that this is a time for defence, a time for battle, upon which the fate of the state and its people depend … I believe that elections are not appropriate at this time.”

Zelensky said on Sunday during an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press that Russia was sponsoring Hamas.

He was also asked about a report last week claiming that American and European officials had begun speaking to the Ukrainian government about negotiating with Russia to end the war.

Zelensky said: “I am not ready to speak with the terrorists because their word is nothing.”

He also said: “We are not ready to give our freedom to this f*cking terrorist, Putin… That’s why we are fighting.”
