Ukrainian special forces say they have destroyed a Russian ‘Giatsint-S’ self-propelled howitzer using an American M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
The footage shows the Russian war machine hidden among some trees before it is hit by Ukrainian artillery ordnance.
It is then hit by a larger explosion, reportedly caused by an American-made HIMARS system as the footage ends.
The images obtained from the 73rd Maritime Centre of Special Operations named after Chief of Staff Antin Holovatoy of the Special Operations Forces (SSO) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Monday, 22nd April, along with a statement saying: “DESTROYED ‘Giatsint-S’ in the occupied South.
“Operators of the 73rd Maritime Centre of the SSO during reconnaissance operations in the Southern Direction discovered the enemy’s 152-mm hull self-propelled gun 2S5 ‘Giatsint-S’.
“The coordinates of the enemy target were promptly transferred to the missile and artillery unit of the Defence Forces.
“The enemy cannon managed to fire only a few shots. After that, it completely destroyed by HIMARS fire.”
